means something extraordinary about the
person who has earned it!
Advanced Midwifery Studies enrollees are given many opportunities to submit additional work for AEU credit. In addition, AEUs may be awarded by the AAMI faculty for extraordinary submissions. The number of AEUs a student earns prior to graduation determines which certificate she is awarded.

Certificate of Academic Excellence

Honor Roll
Outstanding work submitted during any quarter is reconsidered at the end of the quarter for the Advanced Midwifery Studies Honor Roll. The Honor Roll is published in our newsletter, In Touch, and to our Online Study Group. The honoree receives a beautiful certificate with a gold “Apprentice Academic” seal, the original seal created in 1981.
Director’s Honor Roll
Philomath enrollees who are named to the Honor Roll in any quarter receive a second Honor Roll Certificate and a voucher for $5 off any AAMI service or item we sell.
Annual Philomath Award
Each year on January 9, our Academic Director chooses one student who has exhibited an outstanding love for learning to receive this award. In addition to a plaque, the recipient is awarded a $25 Graduation Rebate.
Yellow Sponge Award
This award was initiated in 1981 in recognition of those students who exhibited an extreme thirst for knowledge. We were hoping to emphasize the point that a wet sponge soaks up water much more quickly than a dry one! Our official color was yellow so yellow was the obvious choice of sponge color!
